Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), many studios and film festivals have cancelled and closed their doors. As of yesterday, Paramount Pictures has announced that they are pulling A Quiet Place II from their original release date of March 20, 2020. Disney has decided to follow suit, delaying the release of both anticipated films, 20th Century Studios/Marvel’s, The New Mutants, and Searchlight’s, Antlers.
Deadline has reported that Disney is currently looking at other potential 2020 release dates.
The New Mutants is a horror/superhero film based on the Marvel Comics. The plot consists of five young mutants who discover their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will; fighting to escape their past. The delay comes as a huge blow to the director, Josh Boone. The new release date of April 3, 2020 had finally come after a two-year delay already.
The new film, Antlers, directed by Scott Cooper and produced by Guillermo del Toro, was scheduled to be released on April 17, 2020. The plot for this film consists of a mysterious creature who escapes from its confinement to wreak havoc in a small Oregon town.
Movie goers may have to wait a little longer for other upcoming releases to other films as well.
