It has been officially announced that the new Scream movie (some are calling it a reboot but we will see), is definitely happening; bringing joy to its fans. Last year, Spyglass Media Group had announced that they were toying with the idea of a new Scream movie. However, Discussing Film reported that “Ghostface” will be resurrected by Ready Or Not (2019) directors, Matt Bettinelli-Olphin and Tyler Gillett.

Discussing Film also noted, “Plot details are scarce but sources say it will follow a woman returning to her home town to try to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes.”

Scream (1996) is a slasher film written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven. It follows a high school student, Sidney Prescott, who becomes the target of a mysterious killer in a costume known as “Ghostface.” It stars David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich, Rose McGowan and Drew Barrymore. What made this horror film unique was the fact that it had not one, but two serial killers. One was more psychotic than the other (*cough* Billy Loomis), but that idea gave it a different type of energy and vibe that made it more intriguing.

As noted above, details are scarce and it is unclear whether the new film will be a reboot or a continuation of Sidney’s story. At this time, Spyglass has no comment.
